It was a quick turnaround from Hyper Speedweeks. This is one of the bigger races at Millbridge for the wing karts. It was a three day event, practice on Sunday, qualifying and heats Monday and features on Tuesday. We missed practice on Sunday because Michael had to be in Dover. Qualified 15th out of 37 karts and really just didn’t seem to have the speed. It started raining at the beginning of her heat race and they threw the caution. The rain picked up and it rained the rest of the night out. Giselle’s heat was first on track Tuesday night. The kart looked much better and had a ton of speed, she led every lap and took the heat win. Kids night had a different format, using passing points, so she lined up 9th in the feature. Michael missed it on air pressure in the feature. From the drop of the green, you could see Giselle was just going to have to hang onto it and salvage a finish. She ended up 13th, which out of 37 karts shouldn’t feel like a complete defeat. We have three weeks off and Michael will go to work trying to figure out what we are missing. Giselle has fun, win or lose, she just loves to race. Trying to remind ourselves of that when the wins seem distant. Thank you Powermax Engines, Phantom Racing Chassis, Tony Belk, FloCoating and Millbridge Print Shop.
