Doubled up classes last night at Millbridge. Giselle ran her first Junior Wing race alongside Box Stock. Mom was skeptical considering Giselle has not even tested the Junior Wing but dad and Giselle showed zero concern. The night started out impressive, 9th in Junior Wing qualifying and 4th in Box Stock. The good vibes continued into the heat race. Giselle won her Junior Sprint heat race! She took the lead on lap 1, had a last lap battle and held on to win her first Junior Sprint heat race. Box stock heat race she started 4th and made the necessary passes to finish 2nd. The heat race finishes gave her a 3rd place start in Junior Wing and a 8th place start in Box Stock. Next up the features…and things went down hill in a flash. First was the Box Stock feature. The leaders got together coming to the green and karts started piling up in front of Giselle. She got sent straight into the wall, head on hit and flipped on her side. Kart totally demolished and a shook up driver. Very thankful she walked away with only a bruise on her leg and a sore elbow. Giselle went back to the trailer, asked for a hairbrush and mirror and put her helmet on for the Junior Wing race. She looked so strong in the Junior Wing Race, made her way to second for a few laps and the kart was just too tight to hang on up front. She lost a few spots and made an aggressive move for 4th place with 6 laps to go. Looked like she just dove in to hard to make the pass, made contact coming out of the corner and spun out. That dropped her to the back with only a handful of laps. These nights are tough. Giselle impressed me last night in her Junior Wing debut and both carts had major speed thanks to Powermax and Phantom Racing Chassis. Next up, the Junior Sprint invitational at Indianapolis Motor Speedway July 1st and 2nd.
