Let me start this by saying how proud I am of Giselle and Michael. This is her 8th box stock start and she has made every single feature. I say that as I am “knocking on wood” because I am fully aware I am jinxing her. She has transitioned into box stock really well, she absolutely loves the speed. We had a week off from racing and it was much needed. Michael actually made minimal changes to the cart over the week so that was a miracle in itself. After writing this post race report, I think he should have spent the week actually making changes haha. Giselle had a film crew following her around Monday/Tuesday so she felt like a superstar. I take that back, she was unphased as usual and acted as though the film crew was a part of her regular weekly track act. The night started out with a bang, Giselle qualified on pole. Scoring her first box stock pole. With the invert rule, that put her starting 4th in Heat 1. Heat race was thankfully uneventful but stressful to watch. Giselle’s kart is on edge right now. From a mom’s point of view it’s so close to spinning out in the center of the corner each lap. The kart seemed to come alive the last couple laps of the heat and Giselle made a last lap pass for 3rd. She started the A-feature 9th. The kart was even worse in the feature and I have zero clue how she kept from spinning out coming out of Turn 1 & 2. She got shuffled back and then after a late race caution she was able to come back for a 7th place finish. Thanks to Powermax for the speed, Phantom Racing Chassis for the solid kart and FloCoating for making sure Giselle’s kart matches her style. Crew chief dad just has a little work to do to find some stability.
